My name is Elaine Tran, I am 19 years old, I am Vietnamese and from Philadelphia. I graduated from Cardinal O'Hara High School and now going to Delaware County Community College. My major is Sciences for Health Professions and I am interested in working in the medical field one day. I am still deciding on where to transfer and then go to medical school. My hobbies consists of looking at expensive houses and cars hoping it would be my lifestyle one day.
When I was in my elementary school days, my aunt would always take me to the library to read books and make me do writing prompts. I think that's when I started to dislike writing. I enjoyed reading when I wanted to do it, but my aunt always made me do it, so it felt more like an obligation. I read a lot of books and my favorite writer is Dr. Seuss. I always liked how his writing is short and to the point. In school, I thought my English classes were just ok. I was never really into it. In my freshman year of college, I had a really bad english professor that made me grow hate for the class which discouraged me from attending. I think my writing skills got worse because of that class. I don't write a lot, but I am on social media more to communicate with my family and significant other. I always had trouble with writing because I never knew what to write or how to start. I feel like I write best when I am at home by myself and feel like expressing myself. When I'm anywhere else, I get too distracted and get nothing done. I like to write in the comfort of my own home, in my bedroom with my laptop. I write to express myself and connect with others and sharing my thoughts. I am hoping I can reshape my author identity by understanding better to be able to write without stressing.
