Preface
My past experiences with narrative writing in school were awful and I hated it. I don't like to write in general, but my freshman year English professor in college was terrible and made my experience worse with writing. My professor didn't really go into detail about how we should do narrative writing, whenever she gave us a writing assignment, I was always very confused with the instructions. Even when she tried explaining it, I still didn't understand. In high school, I never did any narrative writing, the essay assignments were more leaned towards research.
This is my page for my Narrative Project, where I will introduce my narrative and links to my blog posts 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. For my blog post 3, it is making a connection with my author self. Writing this blog helped me figure out how I wanted to improve for this course and as a writer. For blog post 4, I came up with a scene where I discuss the process of writing with three authors. In blog post 5, I composed an emotional moment I shared with someone in my life with dialogue. In blog post 6, I wrote a counterfactual which explores the what-ifs of my narrative.
For this narrative project, I decided to write about a time in my life that heavily impacted me. I wrote about my personal experience with choosing colleges while having controlling parents. I always did very well in school and always had not just passing grades, but good grades. I grew up thinking I'd make something big out of my life, but then my possessive mother and her boyfriend took control. Because of their influence, I went from an honor student to a failing college drop out.
